# Tasks and to-do for Mac

> Task managers for projects, priorities and planning beyond Reminders.

From dockpicks (https://dockpicks.com/), a hand-picked, independent directory of Mac apps. Web page: https://dockpicks.com/tasks/

Group: Work. 5 apps, listed best first. Prices are the vendor's wording, checked October 2026, and can change.

Built into macOS: Reminders. Reminders has grown into a capable to-do app: it has lists, sections and columns, Smart Lists, tags, subtasks, dates and locations, shared lists with assigned tasks, and grocery lists that sort themselves. For everyday to-dos that is plenty. A dedicated app earns its place when you juggle many projects, want a daily planning routine, need to work with non-Apple devices, or want a GTD-style review system.

Our take: The best choice for most people who outgrow Reminders and want something pleasant to use every day. No subscription, but it is Apple-only and has no collaboration features.

A to-do list and calendar app with list and Kanban views, a habit tracker, a Pomodoro focus timer and an Eisenhower Matrix view. It syncs across devices.

Our take: Good value if you want tasks, calendar views and habits in one place across all platforms. It packs in a lot, so the interface is busier than Things.

## 4. OmniFocus 4

Powerful GTD-style task management for professionals

- On dockpicks: https://dockpicks.com/tasks/#omnifocus

Task management software for busy professionals that syncs across Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Vision Pro, with a web version for Android and PC.

Our take: For people who run a full Getting Things Done system with many projects and want deep customization. It is expensive and takes real time to learn; most people will be happier with Things.

## 5. 2Do

Flexible task manager that syncs with Reminders and CalDAV

- Price: $49.99 direct; $34.99/year on App Store
- Pricing model: Paid. A one-time purchase. A free trial may exist.

- Mac App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/2do-task-manager-to-do-list/id477670270
- Facts checked: 2026-10-24
- On dockpicks: https://dockpicks.com/tasks/#2do

A Mac task manager with lists, dates, tags, notes and Smart Lists. It syncs through Apple Reminders, iCloud, Dropbox, Todoist, Fastmail or any CalDAV server.

Our take: A strong option if you want power features but prefer to keep your tasks in Reminders or a CalDAV account you control. The interface feels dated next to Things.
