# Clipboard managers for Mac

> Keep a searchable history of everything you copy.

From dockpicks (https://dockpicks.com/), a hand-picked, independent directory of Mac apps. Web page: https://dockpicks.com/clipboard-managers/

Group: Essentials. 5 apps, listed best first. Prices are the vendor's wording, checked October 2026, and can change.

Built into macOS: Spotlight clipboard history. Since macOS Tahoe, Spotlight keeps a clipboard history: press Command-Space, then Command-4, to search earlier copies and copy one back. That covers occasional "what did I copy earlier" moments. Dedicated clipboard managers add pinned items, saved snippets, paste stacks, text filters and sync across devices.

## 1. Maccy

Lightweight, keyboard-first clipboard history

- Price: Free; $9.99 on the Mac App Store
- Pricing model: Free. No payment needed for the full app.
- Usable without paying: Yes
- Open source: Yes, MIT (https://github.com/p0deje/Maccy)
- Developer: Alex Rodionov
- Website: https://maccy.app/
- Mac App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/maccy/id1527619437
- Built-in may be enough: Spotlight clipboard history already covers what most people use this for
- Facts checked: 2026-10-24

Keeps your copy history and lets you search and paste from it with the keyboard. Everything is stored locally, and it drops copied passwords when your password manager clears them.

Our take: The best free pick if you want a fast, minimal history without extra features. Spotlight's built-in history now does much the same, so try that first.

## 2. Paste

Saves everything you copy with no limit, with search, pinboards for reusable items and sync across Mac, iPhone and iPad. It can suggest what to paste next using on-device Apple Intelligence.

Our take: The best choice if you want your clipboard on every Apple device and a visual, easy interface. It costs more than the others, though there is now a one-time lifetime option.

## 3. Pastebot

Keeps a clipboard history with custom and rule-based pastebins, a quick paste menu, stacks for pasting items in sequence, and text filters you can stack before pasting. Syncs over iCloud.

Our take: For people who transform text as they paste, such as developers and writers who clean up formatting. Version 3 requires macOS 26 Tahoe or later.

## 4. CopyClip 2

Simple menu bar clipboard history with pinned clips

- Built-in may be enough: Spotlight clipboard history already covers what most people use this for

Saves everything you copy in a menu bar list you can search, with pinned clips, Command-number shortcuts for the first ten items, a private mode and plain-text pasting.

Our take: A cheap, no-fuss option if you want pinned snippets in the menu bar. For plain history, Spotlight or the free Maccy cover the same ground.

## 5. Clipy

Free open-source clipboard history with snippets

- Price: Free
- Pricing model: Free. No payment needed for the full app.
- Usable without paying: Yes
- Open source: Yes, MIT (https://github.com/Clipy/Clipy)
- Developer: Clipy Project
- Website: https://clipy-app.com/
- Facts checked: 2026-10-24
- On dockpicks: https://dockpicks.com/clipboard-managers/#clipy

A menu bar clipboard manager that keeps text, images and other formats, opens with a keyboard shortcut, and stores reusable text as snippets.

Our take: A good free option if you want saved snippets alongside history, which Spotlight does not offer. The menu-based interface is basic.
